Morocco Coronavirus Update October 12th 6pm

Morocco’s Ministry of Health has recorded 1,357 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. This brings the country’s total number of confirmed infections to 153,761. The country also reported another 2,091 COVID-19 recoveries in the past 24 hours. Morocco’s total number of recovered COVID-19 carriers is now 129,498. The national recovery rate is 84.2%.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health counted 31 more COVID-19-related fatalities, bringing the death toll to 2,636. The mortality rate is now 1.7%. The number of active COVID-19 cases in Morocco stands at 21,627 as of 6 p.m. on Monday, October 12. 

 Morocco counts 464 patients with severe symptoms, including 25 from the past day alone. Approximately 48 are under artificial respiration. Health authorities in Morocco excluded 18,952 suspected COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Approximately 2,744,050 suspected COVID-19 carriers have tested negative for the virus since the pandemic broke out in Morocco on March 2. 

 COVID-19’s geographic distribution throughout Morocco 

Health authorities in the Casablanca-Settat region confirmed 529 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, in addition to five fatalities. Casablanca-Settat has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Morocco. 

 The Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region confirmed 205 new cases. The region also recorded three additional deaths. 

 The Marrakech-Safi region confirmed 171 new COVID-19 cases and five additional deaths. 

 The Oriental region registered 121 new cases and three COVID-19-related deaths. 

 The region of Beni Mellal-Khenifra reported 107 new cases and two additional fatalities. 

The Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region confirmed 95 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths. 

 The region of Fez-Meknes confirmed 57 new COVID-19 cases and five more deaths. 

 The region of Souss-Massa followed in today’s case numbers, recording 37 new cases and two new fatalities. 

The Draa-Tafilalet region reported 19 new infections. The region saw two additional COVID-19-related deaths. 

 The region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab confirmed 16 new COVID-19 infections and zero additional deaths. Meanwhile, the regions of Guelmim-Oued Noun and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra reported no additional cases or fatalities.
